Press release // 14 June 2019

We have the pleasure to inform you of the signature of a long-term partnership between Airbus Defence and Space and Comat regarding the co-development and assembly of space mechanisms. Through this partnership, Comat will competitively design and/or manufacture innovative equipment that will be flown onboard Airbus-made satellites.

The Comat SME (100 people) is a long-standing Airbus supplier. Through the years, it has achieved the standards of quality and reliability required by and shared with Airbus teams.

The signature of this long-term partnership just crowns and rewards Comat, which, several years ago, bet to become an international equipment supplier, renowned for its excellent know-how.

The Occitanie Region has been offering unwavering support to Comat, in recognition of the SME’s  important industrial potential, innovation capacities and investment in human capital. It has allowed Comat to afford competitive equipment, including clean rooms and high-precision manufacturing machines. The Region also supported other projects linking Airbus and Comat, such as  the “Microcarb” project.

Benoit MOULAS, Comat’s President, stressed that “This partnership is an acknowledgement of Comat’s part as a space mechanism supplier, and  allows us to be involved on a long-term basis in future Airbus space programmes.”

This partnership was announced to the press on June 18, 2019, on the occasion of the international Paris Air Show. The communiqué was made at the Occitanie Region booth, in the presence of Ms. Carole DELGA, Region’s President, Mr. Benoit MOULAS, Comat’s President, and Mr. Iñaky GARCIA-BROTONS, Director of Airbus Defence and Space Paris locations, former Director of Toulouse location.
